Recently my car was broken into and the photo equipment I rented from school, my friend Danielle’s camera that she was letting me borrow, and my friend’s jacket were all stolen. Although that all really sucked, it has actually gotten me to do something that I have wanted to do for a long time.
I’m reblogging this help to Brianna but mainly because the prints she’s selling are awesome
Last night I experienced what is possibly the scariest sound one could encounter, the collision of two cars. Normally this sound is one that you listen for when you hear tires screech in the distance, always hoping to hear a crash at the end. The lucky few that have heard the crash (myself included) have probably been filled with enjoyment. Last night I was unfortunately in one of the cars that was involved in the crash and even worse, the car hit my side of the car directly. Luckily I walked away with only a sprained knee, a concussion and and some aches and pains that I’ll have to have checked out if they don’t die down in a few days. The surprise of being hit is always the worse and I’m not talking about being hit by a car necessarily. If you’ve ever been hit by surprise it always hurts more than when you see it coming. You don’t get that second to brace for impact or even mentally prepare to get hit. The sound that two cars make when they collide is so loud from the inside. It may have been me being dazed from hitting the airbag but the reverb from the sound was intense. I’m amazed by how much punishment a car can take considering that it’s mostly made of plastic. The sound of the plastic crumbling is the scary part. The initial bang and then the shock waves that go throughout the car, being thrown around like a rag doll and worst of all the glass. The feeling of little shards of glass being sprayed on you is not pleasant and also very scary. I was expecting to look in the mirror and having cuts all over but fortunately by beautiful body was spared. Unfortunately I won’t be able to strut down the catwalk to show it off with this leg brace on. Oh and walking up stairs is nearly impossible. I’m lucky to have walked away with minor injuries. The driver of the car has a broken nose but who hasn’t had a broken nose before? The sound of a car crumbling is now one of the scariest sounds to me.
All I can say is that seeing them was surreal. This band has influenced every band that I currently listen to. They were ahead of their time. This is the first time I can say that I just stood there and didn’t sing because I just wanted to watch. I didn’t want to miss a thing. You can see where Thursday gets their influence from. Dennis reminded me a lot of Geoff Rickley and the band had the same presence as Thursday.
So, I’ve fallen on some hard times finically, I’ve been forced to put on some of my precious vinyl on eBay. I’ve put on my OP of Brand New’s YFW as well as the baby blue repress. Also, i’ve listed my copy of Deja Entendu. They’re being sold as a bundle. Please bid, or pass this link along. It’s really a great pick up for any Brand New fan.
